Competition: Cornhole


Date:               Thursday, July 9th , 2026

 

Time:             Games starts at 10:00am. Check in 20-30 minutes before your first game.

 

Location:        Bow Island Curling Rink

                       214 4th Ave East, Bow Island, AB

Regional Representation:

Three teams, per age group, per event

 

Age Groups: All ages as of December 31 of current year

No singles (1v1) only teams of doubles. Must be registered in the higher age, age level.

 

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director.

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline. The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers. 

 

No late registrations will be accepted

Set-Up & Gameplay

  1. You must bring your own boards.

 

  1. Every Athlete must be able to produce appropriate identification at all times.

 

  1. Place boards 27 feet apart, front edge to front edge.

 

  1. Players throw from a designated pitcher's box (foul line) next to their board.

 

  1. Alternate throws until all 8 bags (4 per team) are tossed

 

  1. Pitch within 20 seconds

 

 

 

Scoring (Cancellation Scoring)

 

Cornhole (In the Hole) 3 Points

Woody (On the Board) 1 Point (MUST STAY ON THE BOARD)
Dirty Bag (Hits Ground) 0 points cannot hit the ground.

Calculation: In an inning, one team's points cancel the other's (e.g., Team A scores 5, Team B scores 2; Team A gets 3 points for the inning

First team to reach or exceed 21 points wins.

 

Key Violations (Fouls)

1.Stepping past the foul line when pitching.

  1. Not throwing underhand

 

 

CODE OF CONDUCT:

Represent your Region as a Good Will Ambassador with dignity, personal integrity and within the spirit of good sportsmanship at all times both in and out of competition.

 

Show Respect for:

  • The members of your own team and of the entire contingent representing your region.
  • The members of all teams competing from other regions;
  • The rules and standards set down by the Provincial Sport Association, the host community and the Southern Alberta Recreation Association;
  • The Sport Chairs’ decisions;
  • The people of the host community, including staff, volunteers, spectators, local business personnel etc.

 

No alcohol or illegal drug substances shall be consumed by athletes or coaches during competition.
