Location:         Coaldale Sportsplex, 1213 20^th Ave, Coaldale

Time:              Check In: 7:30am        Start Time: 8:30am

Schedule:

• Schedule may be adjusted day of event for no-shows and cancellations
• All participants must be present at least 45 minutes prior to the start of your event. All start times are subject to change.

Events and Age Groups:

• Youth:
  • Categories: boy’s doubles, girl’s doubles, and mixed doubles
  • Skill Level: one combined
  • Age Brackets: 10 to 14 years and 15 to 17 years (Age is the age you will become in 2024)
• Adults:
  • Categories: men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles
  • Skill Level: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0+
  • Age Brackets: (Age is the age you will become in 2024)
    • Under 55 and 55+ for skill level 2.5
    • 18 to 50 years, 51 to 64 years, and 65+ years for 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0+ skill levels
  • Team-based entry - Registration is considered complete when both players have registered and paid the tournament fees.
  • Teams must play at the skill level of the highest rated partner and in the age category of the youngest player.
  • Categories may be merged based on event registration numbers.

Regional Representation:

• Zone playoffs must be completed by May 31st, 2024 at the latest
• 1^st place team in each category qualifies for SASG
  • Both players of each qualifying team must create a free account on pickleballbrackets.com and register in the correct age and skill category, as soon as possible after zone playoffs are completed
• 2^nd place teams will be the alternates

Format:

• Events will be double elimination with each match being best 2 out of 3 games to 11 (win by 1) on the “A” side of the draw. On the “B” side of the draw, each match will consist of one game to 15 (win by 1)
• Smaller events (4 or fewer teams) will use Round Robin format, one game to 21 (win by 1)
• Each team is guaranteed a minimum of two matches

Rules and Regulations:

1. Play will be governed by the rules set by the USPA, 2024 Official Pickleball Rulebook
2. All participants must be present at least 60 minutes prior to the tournament starting time indicated on the schedule.
3. Every athlete must be able to produce appropriate identification at all times.
4. Courts are indoors on an arena floor; please wear appropriate footwear. Indoor balls will be used.
5. Players must supply their own paddles, non-marking shoes, and appropriate clothing.
6. Players will be responsible for line calls. Gold Medal rounds will be refereed pending referee availability.  A tournament director will be on call to address rule disputes.  The tournament director’s decision is final.
7. Medals will be awarded for Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the conclusion of each event.
8. The Southern Alberta Summer Games has a Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy. If a competitor, coach, parent, or spectator is abusive in any way towards officials, other competitors, or volunteers, they will immediately be ejected from competition.

How to set up a basic profile on pickleballbrackets.com:

• Go to https://www.pickleballbrackets.com
• Click on Sign Up (top right-hand corner)
• Enter your email address (If you are a member of Pickleball Canada, enter the same email address you used when signing up for your Pickleball Canada Membership)
• Click on Get Started
• Fill in your first and last name (If you are a member of Pickleball Canada, use same spelling as on your Pickleball Canada membership)
• Set up a password and click on Get Started
• Go to your email. Within your email, click on button “CLICK HERE to VERIFY”
• You will be taken back to Pickleball Brackets to continue your set up
• Fill in all required information (please see IMPORTANT NOTES at the end of this document)
• Click on COMPLETE ACCOUNT SETUP

Registration for pickleballbrackets.com closes on June 17^th, 2024 at 11:59PM for qualifying players for this tournament

IMPORTANT NOTES:
When setting up your basic profile in pickleballbrackets.com

• Self Assessment of your Skill Level (click on this link) - The tournament directors reserve the right to review, and possibly alter the rating of players who self-rate below or above their actual rating.
• You will receive your game notifications and court assignments if you checked YES to “Receive in-game text messages” AND Cell Carrier should be selected when setting up your Player Profile. Failure to show up on time for your games will result in a FORFEIT.

Southern Alberta Summer Games Registration Deadline:

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline. The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers.  

No late registrations will be accepted.

Events will be cancelled if there are four or less individuals registered.  Should any event be cancelled due to lack of registrations, the athletes being affected by the cancellation will be given an opportunity to re-register in another suitable category provided that event is scheduled to run.
