Regional Representation:

Open - no limit on the number of teams per region

Minor/Major- Maximum 14 players

Seniors- Maximum 18 players

 

Format:

Guaranteed 3 games

Round Robin with playoffs for medals as needed. To be determined by the number of teams entered.

 

Events and Age Groups:

Age as of August 31st of the current year:

Minors                9-10 years

Majors                     11-12 years

Senior              13 -15 years

 

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Tournament rules will reflect those in the “Slo-Pitch National Softball Inc.” rule book.
  2. Equipment:
    1. Titanium bats, labelled or otherwise, and unsafe bats are illegal.
    2. Male batters will be pitched a regular size ball whereas females will be pitched a smaller sized slo-pitch ball.
    3. A double base is mandatory for use at first base. All regulations regarding this base as listed in the SPN rule book will apply.
  3. The Game:
    1. NO WALKS
    2. A game shall consist of seven innings. The mercy rule (15 runs) is in affect after 5 or more completed innings.  Time allotted is 1 ½ hours.  DO NOT START A NEW INNING AFTER THE HORN.
    3. A team on the field shall consist of 10 players with a minimum of 4 players being female.
    4. A pitch shall be delivered at moderate speed with a perceptible arc no less than 6 feet and no greater than 12 feet from the ground. An illegal pitch will be immediately declared if these limited are exceeded.  However, should the batter swing at an illegally pitched ball, the pitch will immediately become legal.  The ball is alive and in play if hit by the batter.
    5. All basic batting rules apply as well as the infield fly rule; whereas, the batter is out if he hits a fly ball with runners on first and second, or on first, second and third bases with less than two outs.
    6. If a male or female player is walked, he or she will be awarded first base. The next batter must bat.
    7. A team is allowed three unanswered home runs hit over the fence. The next home run will be considered an out until the opposing team earns an over-the-fence home run.
    8. A base runner is out if, when after reaching first base safely, he overruns or over slides that base, and then makes an attempt to start to second base and is tagged before returning to first base.
    9. A base runner is out if, he fails to keep contact with the base to which he is entitled, until a pitched ball has reached or passed or bounced in front of home plate or is batted. Ie. “Leading off”
    10. A base runner is out if, he touches home plate or crosses over home plate in fair territory, whether a play is made or not.
    11. Each team is required to record the score of both teams in the game in the score books provided.
    12. Score will be reconciled and submitted to tournament personnel after completion of the game by the winning team.
    13. No Bunting.
    14. No more than 2 male batters in a row.
    15. Ball thrown into the dugout or foul area, runner(s) will be awarded an extra base.
    16. Foul ball caught regardless of height is an out.
    17. Maximum runs per inning are 7. Last inning is open.
    18. ZERO TOLERANCE OF ALCOHOL ON THE FIELD.
    19. HORN Start and HORN for 15 Minutes remaining.

Registration Deadline:

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline. The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers.

No late registrations will be accepted.

Events will be cancelled if there are one or less individuals or teams registered. Should any event be cancelled due to lack of registrations, the athletes being affected by the cancellation will be given an opportunity to re-register in another suitable category provided that event is scheduled to run.
