Competition: Barrel Racing

Location:               Foremost Indoor Riding Arena (402 3 St W, Foremost)

 

 

Regional Representation:

Open - no registration cap on regional representation.

 

Format:

3D Format with a 1 (one) second and 1 (one) second split.  

 

Events and Age Groups:

 

All ages as of January 1st, 2026.

All age categories are opened

 

Peewee - 6 to 8 years old

Youth - 9 to 17 years old

Adult - 18 - 55 years old

Masters - 55+ years old

 

Rules and Regulations:

  1. All waivers must be signed prior to entering the arena.
  2. Only one horse is permitted in the arena at a time.
  3. Warm-Up Times:
    1. Riders ages 9 and older will have a 45-minute warm-up session.
    2. Riders ages 9 and under will have a 15-minute warm-up session.
  4. A broken pattern or a knocked-over barrel will result in a no-
  5. Riders must compete on the same horse throughout their division. Horse sharing within the same age group is prohibited, with the exception of Youth and Peewee divisions.
  6. Failure to be prepared when your name is called will result in no time.
  7. Horse Refusals:
    1. If a horse refuses at the gate or alleyway, the rider will have 60 seconds to proceed.
    2. A warning will be issued by the judges.

 

  1. If the horse continues to refuse after 60 seconds, no time will be given.

The Southern Alberta Summer Games has a Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy. If a competitor, coach, parent, or spectator at any point during the event is abusive in any way towards officials, other competitors, volunteers, or animals they will immediately be ejected from the competition.

 

 

 

Registration Deadline:

 

Registration Deadline as designated by your Regional Director

All registrations are done through your Regional Director, who will determine the Regional Deadline. The registration fee must also be submitted to your Regional Director. Signed consent forms must accompany the waivers.  

 

No late registrations will be accepted.

 

Events will be canceled if there is only one team registered. Should any event be canceled due to lack of registrations, the athletes being affected by the cancellation will be given an opportunity to re-register in another suitable category provided that event is scheduled to run.
