Competition: Pickleball

Location:          Taber Ice Arena (large Surface)

 

Time:              Check In: 7:30am       Start Time: 8:00am

 

Schedule:

  • Schedule may be adjusted day of event for no-shows and cancellations
  • All participants must be present at least 45 minutes prior to the start of your event. All start times are subject to change.

 

Events and Age Groups: All ages as of December 31st of current year.

  • Youth:
    • Categories: boy’s doubles, girl’s doubles, and co-ed doubles
    • Skill Level: one combined
    • Age Brackets: Under 15 (Age is the age you will become in 2025)
  • Adults:
    • Categories: men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles
    • Skill Level: under 3.5 and 3.5 + above
    • Age Brackets: (Age is the age you will become in 2025)
      • 16+
    • Team-based entry - Registration is considered complete when both players have registered and paid the tournament fees.
    • Teams must play at the skill level of the highest rated partner and in the age category of the youngest player.
    • Categories may be merged or split by age based on event registration numbers.

 

Format:

  • Events will be double elimination with each match being best 2 out of 3 games to 11 (win by 1) on the “A” side of the draw. On the “B” side of the draw, each match will consist of one game to 15 (win by 1)
  • Smaller brackets (6 or fewer teams) will use Round Robin format, one game to 15 (win by 1), top 4 teams will play for medal
  • Junior division will be Round Robin format, one game to 15 (win by 1), top 4 teams will play for medal
  • Each team is guaranteed a minimum of two matches

 

Tournament Ball: Churco Hybrid 40  (Contact John Findlay to purchase practice balls)

 

Rules and Regulations:

  1. Play will be governed by the rules set by the USPA, 2025 Official Pickleball Rulebook
  2. All participants must be present at least 60 minutes prior to the tournament starting time indicated on the schedule.
  3. Every athlete must be able to produce appropriate identification at all times.
  4. Courts are indoors on an arena floor; please wear appropriate footwear. Hybrid Indoor balls will be used.
  5. Players must supply their own paddles, non-marking shoes, and appropriate clothing.
  6. Players will be responsible for line calls. Rounds will be refereed pending referee availability.  A tournament director will be on call to address rule disputes.  The tournament director’s decision is final.
  7. Medals will be awarded for Gold, Silver, and Bronze at the conclusion of each event.
  8. The Southern Alberta Summer Games has a Zero Tolerance Harassment Policy. If a competitor, coach, parent, or spectator is abusive in any way towards officials, other competitors, or volunteers, they will immediately be ejected from competition.

  • Click on Sign Up (top right-hand corner)
  • Enter your email address (If you are a member of Pickleball Canada, enter the same email address you used when signing up for your Pickleball Canada Membership)
  • Click on Get Started
  • Fill in your first and last name (If you are a member of Pickleball Canada, use same spelling as on your Pickleball Canada membership)
  • Set up a password and click on Get Started
  • Go to your email. Within your email, click on button “CLICK HERE to VERIFY
  • You will be taken back to Pickleball Tournaments to continue your set up
  • Fill in all required information (please see IMPORTANT NOTES at the end of this document)
  • Click on COMPLETE ACCOUNT SETUP

 

  • You will receive your game notifications and court assignments if you checked YES to “Receive in-game text messages” AND Cell Carrier should be selected when setting up your Player Profile. Failure to show up on time for your games will result in a FORFEIT.
